When a trade has been agreed upon, both teams need to make the appropriate pending post here & ensuing transaction on CBS. Once the trade is approved by the trade committee, the trade will be approved on CBS. If the trade has not been posted in this forum or is not pending on CBS the trade will not go through.
Template for posting a trade:
_________
Team A sends:
Buehler, Walker LHP LAD - $13.50M (2020)
FYPD-19 (First Year Player Draft 2019) Pick 10.03
Team B sends:
FYPD-19 (First Year Player Draft 2019) Pick 1.01
IFA Bonus Pool Money = $1.00M
Team A confirms because:
Team B to confirm.
Team A: 37/40 players, $3.50M remaining cap
Team B: 35/40 players, $1.35M remaining cap
________
Team B will then need to reply to confirm the trade. "Team B confirms because:"
________
Not only is the above the template/process for posting and confirming a trade, but also a somewhat complicated deal giving me the chance to explain some of the more complicated aspects of the league.
In this case, Team B is most likely set up as a contender, and likely for years to come by giving up both their 1st round pick in the FYPD and IFA Bonus Pool money. Team A is likely in rebuild mode. Losing a stud SP like Buehler would hurt, but the 1.01 would be the first overall pick in the FYPD and $1.00M in additional IFA Bonus Pool money would allow them to land the likely top International Signing.
________
For those seeking a simpler example, see below:
Team A sends:
Price, David LHP BOS - $8.50M (2021+)
Sabathia, C.C. RHP NYY - $3.00M (2020)
Team B sends:
Brinson, Lewis OF MIA - $1.00M (RK2)
Team A confirms because:
Team B to confirm.

Team B: 35/40 players, $1.35M remaining cap

In the case of this trade, it's a simple player-for-player deal and as long as the deal does not take a team over their 40-man roster limit nor over their salary cap, the trade will be reviewed immediately for approval. A likely scenario for the deal above would be Team A trying to get out of Price's long-term contract going thru 2021 (with the "+" indicating that it was a 4 or 5 year deal, which automatically gives the owner the opportunity to option the player for 1-3 years). Otherwise, Brinson on his 2nd year of a Rookie Contract is a risky player, sure, but Rookie contracts are the cheapest and allow the most team flexibility.
